Popular educator and YouTuber Faizal Khan, also known as “Khan Sir,” joined Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants protesting in Patna’s Gardanibagh on Friday. The students have been staging demonstrations against recent changes in the exam pattern and the normalisation process.
Key Demands
The aspirants are calling for the cancellation of the normalisation process and insist that the examination be conducted in “one shift with one paper” to ensure fairness and uniformity.
Speaking to reporters, Khan Sir stated:
- Concerns Over Normalisation: “We demand a clear assurance from the BPSC president that exams will be conducted in one shift without normalisation. The current process, while theoretically sound, lacks trust in its implementation.”
- Protesting Peacefully: “We are not on the streets but protesting constitutionally at the designated site. We believe in democracy and hope the government will address our concerns.”
Call for Action
Khan Sir emphasized the importance of addressing the students’ grievances promptly, especially with the examinations just a week away.
- Appeal to Authorities: “We have no political affiliations. We urge the government and the administration to listen to the students. This issue impacts not just the aspirants but also their families.”
- Extension of Deadlines: He also demanded an extension of exam dates and reconsideration of forms rejected due to server discrepancies.
Background
The change in the exam format includes a multi-shift system and normalisation of scores to balance variations in difficulty levels. While authorities argue this ensures fairness, students fear inconsistencies and biases in the normalisation process could jeopardize their scores.
The protests have garnered widespread attention, with calls for transparency and reform in the examination process to ensure equal opportunities for all candidates.
