Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India]: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described his three-year tenure as a period of “service, good governance, and development,” highlighting key achievements, including women empowerment initiatives, employment generation, and the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
Women Empowerment and Employment Initiatives
The Uttarakhand government has prioritized women’s socio-economic upliftment, introducing several initiatives:
- 30% horizontal reservation for women in government jobs to ensure equal opportunities.
- ‘Chief Minister Mahila Swarojgar Yojana’ has provided self-employment opportunities to over 30,000 women, making them financially independent.
Economic Growth and Policy Reforms
On Wednesday, CM Dhami chaired a review meeting of Agriculture, Horticulture, Cooperatives, Silk, Aromatic Plant Center, Sugarcane, and Tea Production Board at the State Secretariat in Dehradun.
Highlighting his government’s performance, Dhami stated:
“Under the guidance of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, the state government has taken forward many development works in a period of three years. New works have also started, and Uttarakhand is now among the top states in terms of development. In 2020, the state ranked first in the NITI Aayog rankings. The unemployment rate has decreased by 4.4%, and large-scale investments have come to Uttarakhand, creating new job opportunities.”
Historic Reforms: First UCC Implementation in India
One of the landmark decisions taken under Dhami’s leadership has been the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), making Uttarakhand the first state in independent India to enforce the law.
“Many historic decisions have been taken in these three years, whether it is the first implementation of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the country after independence or the implementation of the anti-cheating law,” CM Dhami said.
With economic development, employment growth, and significant governance reforms, the Dhami government aims to continue its transformational policies in the state.
