New Delhi [India], June 25: A devastating fire broke out at a polyethylene factory near Rithala Metro Station in New Delhi on Tuesday, leaving three people dead and three others injured, Delhi Police confirmed.
According to officials, 15 fire tenders from the Delhi Fire Service were rushed to the spot after the blaze was reported. The factory was involved in printing on plastic and textiles, which likely contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.
🔥 Fire Under Control, Rescue Operations Ongoing
Divisional Fire Officer AK Jaiswal, who is leading the response, said:
“Printing on plastic and clothes is done in this factory. The people here told us that 2–3 people had been taken to the hospital. 15 fire tenders are present at the spot. The fire is under control, but we cannot enter the second and third floors yet. Once we do, we will confirm if there are additional casualties.”
The building’s upper floors remain inaccessible due to heavy smoke and structural risks, delaying complete search and rescue operations.
🏥 Casualties and Medical Response
Authorities confirmed that three people succumbed to injuries, while three others were hospitalized. Identities of the victims are yet to be officially released.
🚨 Cause of Fire Yet to Be Determined
Officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire. However, the materials present—primarily polyethylene and plastic—are known to be highly flammable.
Police and fire department officials are expected to launch a detailed investigation once the firefighting and rescue efforts conclude.
📍 Location & Public Safety
The fire broke out close to Rithala Metro Station, a heavily trafficked area in northwest Delhi. Delhi Metro services remained unaffected, but local traffic was diverted and safety cordons were placed to prevent civilian entry.
📢 Awaiting Further Details
As the situation develops, more details on victims, cause of fire, and safety compliance of the factory are expected. The Delhi Police and Delhi Fire Service are coordinating on the ground to bring the situation under full control.
