New Delhi: The 25th edition of the ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ campaign saw energetic participation across over 5,000 locations nationwide, as citizens came together to promote fitness, community health, and national pride. The event, held under the Fit India Movement, was also dedicated to the brave soldiers of Operation Sindoor.
In Delhi’s Janakpuri, Minister Ashish Sood took part in the celebrations, applauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to strengthening India’s sports ecosystem.
“PM Narendra Modi has taken many steps to promote sports culture. Today’s turnout in Janakpuri, with hundreds of youth, students, and elders cycling together, reflects the success of the Fit India and Khelo India Movements,” Sood said.
Union Sports Minister and Celebrities Join the Momentum
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya also participated in the Janakpuri leg of the event.
“This 25th edition is special. It’s happening at over 5,000 locations and is dedicated to our soldiers from Operation Sindoor,” Mandaviya told ANI.
Actor Sharvari Wagh was also present at the event, adding celebrity sparkle to the celebration of fitness.
Nationwide Reach and Digital Impact
Launched in December 2024, the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ initiative has grown rapidly:
- Reached 5,500+ locations
- Engaged over 3 lakh participants
- Recorded 3.44 billion digital impressions
Prominent supporters include Sania Mirza, Milind Soman, John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Shankar Mahadevan, and Imtiaz Ali, along with tribute mentions to Dara Singh.
Fitness and Community Well-Being
Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Khelo India Centres (KICs) across the country organized:
- Zumba sessions
- Rope-skipping events
- Guided yoga practices
- Free health check-ups by National Centre of Sports Sciences and Research (NCSSR) experts
These community wellness features turned the event into a holistic health campaign for all age groups.
Bicycle Day & National Tribute
The 25th edition also builds momentum ahead of World Bicycle Day on June 3, further promoting cycling as a symbol of sustainable fitness and a tribute to India’s armed forces.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity, fitness, and national pride through this ongoing initiative, bringing India a step closer to becoming a fit and health-conscious nation.
