Pune Shocker: 22-Year-Old Woman Raped By Fake Courier Agent; Police Launch Manhunt

In a deeply disturbing incident in Pune’s Kondhwa area, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an unidentified man who entered her home by posing as a courier delivery executive. The attack occurred around 7:30 PM on Wednesday, according to police sources.

Modus Operandi: Posing as Courier Agent

The woman was alone in her flat when the assailant arrived with what appeared to be a bank envelope, claiming it was a delivery. After requesting a pen, he forced his way inside, locked the door, and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

“The accused knocked on the door claiming to be delivering a courier and managed to enter the flat. When she turned her back, he latched the door and raped her,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde.

Authorities suspect the attacker may have used a chemical or spray to render the woman unconscious. She regained consciousness around 8:30 PM, an hour after the assault, and informed her relatives, who then alerted police.

Selfie and Threat Left Behind

In a sinister move, the accused also clicked a selfie with the victim on her phone and left a threatening message, warning her not to report the crime or he would leak her photos on social media.

“We found a selfie in the victim’s phone. He left a message threatening her. We are analysing it,” confirmed a police official.

Police Action Underway

  • 10 police teams (five each from the crime branch and zonal units) have been deployed.
  • CCTV footage from the area has captured the suspect’s face and is being used to trace him.
  • Forensic experts have been called in to test for any chemical substances used during the crime.
  • The case has been registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 64, 77, and 351(2) at Kondhwa Police Station.

“There is a possibility that the accused used some substance to make her unconscious. We are investigating that angle too,” an official added.

Rising Concerns Over Women’s Safety

This shocking incident highlights growing concerns over personal safety, particularly when strangers posing as service agents exploit trust to commit serious crimes. The use of technology for intimidation (like selfies and social media threats) adds a chilling new layer to such assaults.
