London, February 17: The 2024 BAFTA Awards ceremony took place on Sunday at London’s Royal Festival Hall, celebrating the year’s finest in cinema. Vatican drama Conclave emerged as a big winner, scoring four awards, including Best Film and Outstanding British Film. It shared the spotlight with The Brutalist, which bagged Best Director for Brady Corbet and Best Actor for Adrien Brody.
Hosted by Doctor Who star David Tennant, the gala was streamed internationally, including in India on Lionsgate Play. The night also saw impressive wins for Emilia Perez, A Real Pain, Wicked, Dune: Part Two, Anora, and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, each earning two awards.
In the acting categories, Mikey Madison took home the Leading Actress award for Anora, while Adrien Brody was named Leading Actor for his role in The Brutalist. The evening also celebrated fresh talent, with David Jonsson winning the EE Rising Star Award, voted by the public.
