In a tragic and chilling incident from East Delhi’s Shahdara district, a 20-year-old woman identified as Saira was allegedly shot dead by a male acquaintance late Monday night near GTB Enclave. The murder occurred following a sudden argument between the two, as per Delhi Police officials.
CCTV Footage Reveals Calm Before the Crime
The entire incident was captured on CCTV, which showed Saira and the accused walking calmly moments before the altercation. Police stated:
“An argument broke out suddenly, after which the man pulled out a pistol and shot Saira twice at close range.”
A PCR call was received around the same time, reporting a woman lying injured. When police arrived at the scene—a service road near MIG Flats opposite Sunder Nagri—they found Saira dead with two bullet wounds. A forensic team later confirmed she was shot at point-blank range.
Family Was Observing Mourning Rituals
Saira had been living with her sister Sayyeda and brother-in-law, especially since the recent death of her mother. The family was preparing for the 40-day mourning ritual (chaliswa) set for Thursday when the second tragedy struck.
Accused Identified, Manhunt Underway
Police have identified the accused and are actively conducting raids to locate and arrest him. A case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at GTB Enclave Police Station.
An officer involved in the investigation said:
“We are verifying the background and motive. The relationship between the two is also being looked into. All possible leads are being pursued.”
Community in Shock
The incident has left the local residents of Sunder Nagri and GTB Enclave in shock, as many expressed horror at the senseless killing. The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) is likely to seek a report from police in the coming days.
