A tragic accident occurred in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday when an army vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near the Wular viewpoint in the SK Payeen area.
The mishap claimed the lives of two soldiers, while three others sustained injuries, according to Masarat Iqbal Wani, Medical Superintendent of Bandipora District Hospital.
“The three injured personnel have been referred to Srinagar for advanced medical treatment. We immediately dispatched an ambulance upon receiving information about the accident,” Wani told media.
The injured soldiers were initially taken to a local hospital and later shifted to a medical facility in Srinagar. While one of the injured has been declared stable, the condition of the other two remains critical.
“One of them is in stable condition; two are in emergency…” Wani added, highlighting the seriousness of the injuries.
The incident has cast a shadow over the region, with authorities investigating the cause of the accident.
