New Delhi [India]: Two men were arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly beating their 25-year-old friend, Golu, to death with a wooden stick during a New Year’s Eve party in Delhi’s Keshav Puram area.
Decomposed Body Found
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) North-West Bhisham Singh confirmed the recovery of Golu’s decomposed body on January 7.
“On January 7, a PCR call was received about a foul smell emanating from a locked room. Upon reaching the spot, police discovered a decomposed male body inside. The deceased’s face was blackened, and an Aadhaar Card bearing the name Golu, aged 25, was found in his hand,” DCP Singh said.
The victim was positively identified by his sister, following which a case was registered under Section 103(1) BNS at PS Keshav Puram, and an investigation was launched.
Investigation and Arrest
Police analyzed CCTV footage and statements from the complainant to identify the suspects. It was revealed that Golu and one of the accused, Ranjeet (30), had previously collaborated on making Instagram reels. This account was scrutinized to verify the accused’s identity, aiding in their capture.
Ranjeet and Neeraj Verma (23) were arrested after raids at multiple hideouts. The police recovered the murder weapon, a wooden stick, based on their confession.
Motive Behind the Crime
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had previously worked with Golu at a tent house and a footwear factory. Golu reportedly reprimanded and verbally abused them, and on one occasion, physically assaulted them.
“Harboring deep anger and humiliation, the accused decided to take revenge. They beat Golu to death with a wooden stick during a New Year’s Eve party and fled the scene, locking the door behind them,” police said.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are probing whether the accused were involved in other criminal activities. The police emphasized their commitment to ensuring justice for the deceased.
