18 Trains Delayed Amid Low Visibility, Railways Warn Of Disruptions

New Delhi [India], December 26: Rail services in North India have been significantly impacted by dense fog and low visibility, with over 18 trains running late as of Friday morning. The Northern Railway region has been particularly affected, with trains facing delays due to the weather conditions.

Among the delayed trains, the Avadh Assam Express, scheduled to arrive at 07:07, is running a staggering 278 minutes late. The Unchahar Express is delayed by 229 minutes, while the Vikramshila Express, expected at 07:20, is running 65 minutes behind schedule.

Other affected trains include the S Kranti Superfast Express, delayed by 83 minutes and now expected at 07:55, and the Shiv Ganga Express, which is running 70 minutes late, now expected to arrive at 08:30. The Duronto Express, originally scheduled for 06:40, is delayed by 1 hour and 16 minutes, while the Poorva Express faces a delay of 240 minutes.

Additional delays have been reported for the Goda Delhi Express (delayed by 70 minutes), the Bui NDLS Superfast Express (delayed by 65 minutes), and the Sadbhavana Express (delayed by 36 minutes). The Lucknow Mail is delayed by 98 minutes, and the Sapt Kranti Express is running 45 minutes late.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a minimum temperature of 7 degrees Celsius in Delhi on Thursday, with dense fog expected to persist. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the capital remained in the ‘very poor’ category, with a thin fog layer further impacting visibility across parts of the city.

At Delhi Airport, low visibility procedures have been implemented, though all flight operations are running as scheduled. The airport advisory stated, “Low Visibility Procedures are in progress at Delhi Airport. All flight operations are presently normal.” Passengers were advised to stay updated on flight statuses by contacting their respective airlines.
