Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), January 13 : On the occasion of ‘Paush Purnima,’ the first day of the Maha Kumbh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath greeted the millions of devotees gathered at the Sangam in Prayagraj. CM Adityanath announced that around 15 million devotees participated in the holy dip, marking the beginning of the auspicious festival.
“On the first bathing festival today, 1.50 crore Sanatan followers took a dip in the sacred Triveni, earning ‘punya’ and blessings,” CM Adityanath posted on X.
He expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the smooth execution of the first day of the ‘snan’ (bathing ritual) at Maha Kumbh. “Heartfelt congratulations to all the saints and devotees who had the opportunity to bathe in the Sangam on ‘Paush Purnima’ during this auspicious Maha Kumbh festival,” he said. The Chief Minister also thanked the Maha Kumbh Mela Administration, Prayagraj Administration, UP Police, Municipal Corporation Prayagraj, Swachhagrahis, Ganga Sevadoots, Kumbh Sahayaks, and various socio-religious and voluntary organizations for their support.
Maha Kumbh is one of the largest and most significant religious gatherings in the world, held every 12 years at one of four locations in India. The 2025 edition, also known as Poorna Kumbh, is taking place from January 13 to February 26, 2025. This grand event is expected to draw millions of devotees, pilgrims, and tourists from across the globe, offering a unique opportunity to highlight India’s cultural, spiritual heritage and tourism potential.
