Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], April 20: History was made at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday when 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a thunderous entry into the Indian Premier League (IPL), debuting for Rajasthan Royals against Lucknow Super Giants in the 36th match of the 2025 season.
In a debut to remember, the young prodigy smashed a six off the very first ball he faced and went on to score a blazing 34 off just 20 deliveries, including two fours and three sixes. His fearless innings gave the Royals a strong start in a high-stakes match. Though dismissed in the ninth over, his performance sent a wave of excitement across the cricketing world.
Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) President Rakesh Tiwari lauded Vaibhav’s fearless batting, saying,
“I am extremely happy today after seeing Vaibhav bat in the IPL. I always believed that whenever Vaibhav got an opportunity, he would perform well… I believe Vaibhav has the potential to be one of the biggest names in Indian cricket in the years to come.”
Youngest Ever to Play in IPL
Born on March 27, 2011, in Bihar, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is now officially the youngest player to play in the IPL, surpassing Prayas Ray Barman who debuted at 16 for RCB in 2019.
