13 Soldiers Killed In Suicide Bombing In Pakistan’s North Waziristan; TTP Suspected

Islamabad: A deadly suicide bombing struck a military convoy in Pakistan’s North Waziristan district on Saturday, killing 13 soldiers and injuring 29 others, including 10 army personnel and 19 civilians, officials told AFP.

“A suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a military convoy. The blast killed 13 soldiers, injured 10 army personnel and 19 civilians,” said a local government official, requesting anonymity.

The explosion also caused nearby homes to collapse, injuring six children, according to a police officer stationed in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

While no group has claimed responsibility yet, suspicion has turned towards the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) — an outlawed terror outfit that has been active in the region and linked to previous attacks on military and civilian targets.

The attack adds to a recent surge in militant violence across Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Just three months earlier, the Pakistan Army claimed it had neutralized 10 TTP militants after a suicide bombing near the Frontier Corps camp in South Waziristan, according to Geo News.

In a separate March incident, militants from the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) targeted the Jaffar Express passenger train, killing 21 passengers and four paramilitary personnel.

📊 Alarming Terror Trends:

According to the Global Terrorism Index 2025, Pakistan saw a 45% increase in terror-related deaths, rising from 748 in 2023 to 1,081 in 2024. This spike places the country second globally in terms of terrorist fatalities.

The incident has once again raised serious questions about Pakistan’s internal security, especially in tribal regions where militant groups like the TTP continue to operate despite military crackdowns.
