13 Bangladeshi Nationals, Including Children, Detained In Delhi For Illegal Stay

In a significant operation, the Delhi Police Crime Branch detained 13 Bangladeshi nationals, including five children, from Auchandi village in Delhi for allegedly residing in India without valid documents.

DCP (Crime) Aditya Gautam confirmed that the individuals had entered the country illegally via unfenced agricultural fields along the India-Bangladesh border, before boarding a train from Cooch Behar railway station to Delhi. Upon arrival, they reportedly took up jobs as casual labourers at a brick kiln in Kharkhoda, Haryana.

Those detained include:

  • Md. Rafikul (50)
  • Khoteza Begum (41)
  • Md. Anowar Hussain (37)
  • Md. Aminul Islam (28)
  • Zorina Begum (27)
  • Afroza Khatun (25)
  • Md. Khakhon (20)
  • Hasna (19)
  • Five minor children

The police have initiated deportation procedures for the group and are actively searching for Zalil Ahmad, an alleged agent who facilitated their illegal entry into India.

Crackdown on Illegal Immigration in Delhi

This detention is part of a wider crackdown by the Delhi Police targeting illegal immigration in the national capital. According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range), SK Jain, nearly 125 Bangladeshi nationals have been deported from South and Southeast Delhi over the past six months. Additionally, around 100 illegal immigrants from other countries have also been deported.

“These infiltrators threaten national security. Their role has been found in many criminal cases. From a security point of view, this campaign has been launched to take the strictest action,” SK Jain said.

Legal Action Against Facilitators

Jain also emphasized that strict legal action is being taken not only against the infiltrators but also against individuals or groups that provide shelter and forge documents for them.

“Action is being taken against those who shelter these infiltrators and help in making fake documents,” he added.

This operation underscores the intensified national security measures being implemented in the capital to prevent undocumented migration and its associated risks.
