118-Member Delegation Of Foreign Diplomats To Visit Mahakumbh In Prayagraj

A 118-member delegation, including Heads of Mission, their spouses, and diplomats from 77 countries, will visit the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Saturday. This visit is part of a diplomatic tour to experience the grandeur of the ongoing religious event.

Earlier, during a press briefing, the official Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, confirmed the visit. He stated, “Yes, diplomats will be visiting Kumbh tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, a three-member judicial commission was formed to investigate the tragic stampede that occurred during the Mauni Amavasya on Wednesday at the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela. The commission visited Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj on Friday, where many of the stampede victims were admitted. The incident, which took place during the Mauni Amavasya bathing ritual, tragically resulted in the deaths of 30 people and left 60 others injured.

The commission, consisting of former judge Harsh Kumar and other members, has been tasked with examining the causes and circumstances of the incident. The investigation aims to provide recommendations to prevent such incidents in the future. The commission is expected to submit its report within one month.

The Mahakumbh Mela is a spectacular display of faith and devotion, with over 296.4 million devotees gathering at the Sangam to take a holy dip in the Triveni waters. This massive congregation is part of the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025, which is being held from January 13 to February 26. The Maha Kumbh Mela is held once every 144 years, making it a significant cultural and spiritual event. The gathering includes ascetics, saints, sadhus, pilgrims, and devotees from all walks of life, underscoring its importance in Hindu mythology as the world’s largest public gathering and collective act of faith.
