Kulgam (Jammu and Kashmir), July 13: At least 10 pilgrims returning from the Amarnath Yatra were injured in a road accident in Kulgam district on Sunday afternoon, officials said. The group was en route to Vaishno Devi after completing their Amarnath pilgrimage.
One of the injured, speaking from the hospital, said, “All of us are from Madhya Pradesh. We started our journey around 3 am. After the accident, we were rushed to the hospital where treatment is being provided.”
Another injured pilgrim, Bhagirath from Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, shared, “I have an eye injury. We had come for the yatra. The arrangements here are satisfactory.”
Dr Tariq, an orthopaedic specialist at GMC Anantnag, confirmed that 8–10 injured pilgrims were admitted. “Most injuries are head-related, but orthopaedically they are stable. After proper medical investigation, we expect to discharge most of them shortly. One person with chest trauma will remain under observation,” he stated.
